Merit Thursday (they/them) is an experimental animator, arts organizer, and teacher living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They use animation as a tool to sort through and make accessible those thoughts and emotions that feel unspeakable or unfeelable. They seek answers using traditional and new media techniques, and try to find ways to remove their “expertise” from the equation by introducing a forced limitation of some kind. While their past works have leaned heavily into explorations on the body, on heritage, and on internal experiences, they have since begun to look outward: turning their eyes towards the ways in which they interact with the world.
