Sol Barrios — YAG/GARAGE

Sol Barrios born in Viña del Mar, Chile (1980). She is an actress by profession and began in the world of visual arts 6 years ago. With her works in watercolor and her murals in pasteup she has participated in various exhibitions in Chile Here is how she understand her artwork: "We are all made of contradictions and repressed thoughts or denied beauties conceived as errors. We get born as complete selves, but, in the way we grow up getting broken and cracked. So we keep trying to fit in once and again into a system that does not allow anything to fill it out. My artwork pursue to give its place back to our truly self. That self that remains sinked under the morals issues, fears, and incoherence of what you supposed to be at the eyes of society. Emotions are materialized through a portrait that has come back to life; the desire for transcendence are expressed through water color. The colours, textures, lines, the nobility of materials, the lights and monstrouisity become part of the same universe and together form the beauty of what is complex".
