On Saturday, 7 June, the exhibition Distese – Queerness Beyond Borders opens, curated by Finn Brown and Lorenzo Xiques Lopez. A collective show that explores the multiple forms of queer identity through the work of Freya Gascoyne, Soul Baraitser, Andia Coral Newton, Asafe Ghalib, Dario Biancullo, Kobramulata, Sarà Leghissa, Taquitojocoque, and Matteo Domenichetti—eight Italian and British artists.
Painting, photography, installation, textiles, words, and sound become tools for reflecting on, traversing, and subverting the social, cultural, and symbolic boundaries that define what is visible, acceptable, “normal.”
Here, queer art is not only expression but also a political and affective gesture: a language that challenges norms and categories, opening spaces for care, resistance, and possibility.
The exhibition unfolds as a passage, a plural landscape in which identity is not fixed but constantly questioned, reinvented, lived.
Distese is an invitation to look beyond imposed limits and to imagine new ways of existing.
