YAG/garage opens its 2025 exhibition season with a solo show by Annamaria Natale, curated by Ivan D’Alberto, titled I viaggi straordinari.
Through a path that spans myth, literature, and memory, the artist explores the journey as a metaphor for existence. The exhibition title recalls A Fifteen-Year-Old Captain by Jannis Kounellis and presents a deep reflection on inner research and the return to one’s origins.
Returning to Abruzzo, Annamaria Natale presents works that evoke the epic journey of Odysseus, understood as nóstos: not only a physical return, but also a symbolic one—a return to consciousness and the wholeness of being. Each piece represents a stage of this exploration, bringing past and present, experience and memory into dialogue. Her expressive and immersive artistic language invites viewers to lose and rediscover themselves among emotions, memories, and new perspectives.
This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Natale’s vision, discovering her artistic and human journey between personal inspirations and universal references.
Her pictorial research unfolds through inks, paper, pigments, and resin, creating cosmic and ever-changing scenarios—suspended spaces where the viewer can lose or find themselves. In her sculptural work, she combines natural materials such as marble, stone, and wood, giving life to pieces that move between heaviness and lightness, stability and fragility, always in a delicate balance between form and meaning.
