Photographs by Stefano Fontebasso De Martino

A series of photographic shots depicting nationally and internationally renowned artists, captured in spontaneous situations: during performances, in their studios, in galleries and museums while setting up their exhibitions. These are artists who have had a relationship with this region through friendships with cultural practitioners who contributed to its cultural growth. One may think, for example, of the Coen and Pieroni, Sala and Spadano, and De Domizio Durini families ; of gallerists and curators such as Cesare Manzo, Rizziero Di Sabatino, Benedetta Spalletti, Enrico Sconci, Mariantonietta Firmani, and Gabriele Di Pietro; of institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila, the “Misticoni” Art High School, and the Centro di Archiviazione e Promozione della Performing Art of Pescara ; and of artists such as Ettore Spalletti, Elio Di Blasio, Franco Summa, and Sandro Visca .
The “portraits” selected for the exhibition are those of: Emilio Vedova, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Vettor Pisani, Cesare Pietroiusti, Luca Maria Patella, Pino Pascali / Ugo Mulas, Mimmo Paladino, Luigi Ontani, Hidetoshi Nagasawa, Fabio Mauri, Jannis Kounellis, Joseph Kosuth, Gino De Dominicis, Enzo Cucchi, Piero Pizzi Cannella, and Joseph Beuys. The selection also includes figures born in Abruzzo who, for professional reasons, worked mainly outside the region, such as Mario Ceroli and Nunzio. Mario Ceroli and Nunzio.
