Sotto la pelle

YAG/garage opens its 2026 program with Sotto la pelle, a solo exhibition by Simone Camerlengo, curated by Daniela Pietranico.

Through a pictorial journey made of thresholds, traces, and memories, the artist explores the boundary between what appears and what remains hidden. The title suggests an invitation to move beyond the surface, toward a more intimate dimension where the image becomes an inner experience and a space of listening.

Installed in the Church of Sant’Anna in Pescara, the exhibition brings together a selection of works in which everyday life is transformed into vision. Spaces, presences, and architectures gradually emerge like fragments held in time, suspended between perception and remembrance. Images surface through blurred fields of color and passages of light, interrupted by sharper marks that guide the viewer’s gaze and shape its passage. The mark—central to Camerlengo’s research—runs through the works as both gesture and structure: irregular lines and more controlled tensions build the space, leaving the image balanced between appearance and withdrawal, never fully definitive.

This exhibition offers an opportunity to enter Simone Camerlengo’s pictorial universe, inviting the public to a slow and profound way of seeing, capable of recognizing what lies beneath the skin.
