The collaboration between Fondazione ARIA and YAG/garage continues this year with Oh madre! (Oh Mother!) , a solo exhibition by Martina Marini Misterioso, curated by Giovanna Dello Iacono and Maria Letizia Paiato, as part of Stills of Peace and Everyday Life.
Oh Mother! by Martina Marini Misterioso unfolds as an intimate yet universal journey through the themes of care, origin, and transformation. At the heart of the artist’s research lies the experience of love in its most complex and all-encompassing form: a generative force, a radical openness to the other, but also an inevitable place of loss and pain. The materials—clay, linen, and ceramics—gradually become more ethereal, as if each work were part of a process of sublimation in which the weight of lived experience is transformed into vibration, echo, and breath.
In dialogue with this edition’s theme, Global Identity, the exhibition reflects on identity as a fluid and relational construct, where the individual dimension opens onto a collective resonance. Oh madre! (Oh Mother!) thus becomes a space of transition, where personal experience is transformed into a shared language, and where the sacred emerges as a living practice: the ability to move through pain, to evolve, and ultimately to become lighter in its wake.
