Levent Ayata


Levent Ayata (born in 1981) is a Turkish sculptor and educator active in the contemporary art scene. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dokuz Eylül University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 2007, his master’s degree in 2016, and his Sanatta Yeterlik (equivalent to a PhD) in 2024. Since 2013, he has been a researcher in the Sculpture Department at the same university.
His artistic practice focuses on a critical analysis of contemporary Turkish culture, particularly the proliferation of kitsch and decorative public sculptures, often influenced by the aesthetics of Jeff Koons. Ayata has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including YAG/Garage International Turchia in Pescara (2023), and has exhibited at the Elgiz Museum in Istanbul. In 2024, he presented his solo show Re-Sound and participated in several group exhibitions, including Bulut, Kaldırım Taşı, Islık and Güçlü Bir Karşılaşma İhtimali Üzerine: Yasalar, Haberler, Sloganlar.
His research explores themes such as cultural identity, memory, and perception through the use of contemporary sculptural materials and forms.
