Jovan C. Speller (born 1977, based in Minnesota) is a multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in Fine Art Photography from Columbia College Chicago; she also teaches and serves as director of the Great Northern Festival. Her practice spans photography, installation, sound, an d text, exploring historical narratives, ancestral memory, and geographic identity. Her work has been exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and in museums across the United States, earning her awards such as the McKnight Visual Artist Fellowship, the Jerome Emerging Artist Award, and state arts grants.
