Davide Mariani

Davide Mariani, born in Cagliari on 3 February 1998, is a visual artist whose practice spans installation, painting, video, and performance. His research focuses on walking and the relationship between the body and space, filtered through a deeply autobiographical perspective.

Through video, installation, and performance, he appropriates places in search of a sense of belonging and identity—a condition familiar to those who, by choice or necessity, live far from their place of origin. By using walking as a performative act of approaching and inhabiting space, and by employing fetish-like objects, he attempts to construct a personal sense of dwelling within unfamiliar environments.
His research is marked by effort and persistence, shaped by a feeling of both physical and existential inadequacy: the desire to find a place that can truly be called home. Every action becomes an attempt, an act of endurance aimed at achieving this goal—making space one's own.

Mariani studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Sassari, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Painting in 2022, and later completed a Master's degree in Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila in 2025.

Since 2018, he has worked as a cultural operator with the SUONA Cultural Association in Serrenti (South Sardinia). Since 2024, he has also been the organiser and promoter of the Zona ArtiGeniale – Festival of Kindness, a contemporary art and music festival.
