Maya Ivona Peiu, born in 2004 in Fălticeni, Romania, is a multidisciplinary artist working across film, photography, literature, music, and performance. She currently lives in Milan, where her artistic research explores themes of grief, memory, dreams, and the fragile architecture of human relationships.
Her practice embraces an experimental approach that often incorporates the shooting and manipulation of 16 mm film. For her, photography is a means of forging connections with cultures, places, and people she might otherwise never encounter.
She is the author of two collections of short prose, Cântecul Meu and 3 Hearts – Vivisection. Her films have been screened internationally in Romania, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States, at venues including e-flux and the Millennium Film Workshop in New York. She has received several awards, including the Grand Prize at the Super International Teenager Film Festival.
