almanacco yag

YAG/garage presents Almanacco YAG, a multi-year project that, through an annual open call, involves students from Italian Fine Arts Academies and young artists who have completed their Master’s degree within the past three years.
The initiative aims to promote emerging artistic research by offering a space dedicated to the documentation, sharing, and dissemination of new contemporary art practices, gradually creating a more detailed map of the new generations of artists.

The core of the project is the Almanacco sheet, an A3-sized composition that each artist is invited to create as a visual and narrative summary of their most recent research path. It offers an opportunity to reflect on one’s work, define its directions, and transform it into a communicative device capable of telling stories of identity, language, and vision.

A jury will select up to 100 proposals, published online in a permanent and constantly expanding digital archive. Among these, 10 artists will be chosen to participate in a group exhibition at the gallery, while three winners— one from each geographical area—will receive a dedicated studio visit and a critical text curated by the territorial reference.

With Almanacco YAG, the gallery aims to support and make visible the research of new generations, gradually creating an open space for dialogue and memory, where ideas, aesthetics, and processes can emerge, layer, and converse year after year.
