Claudio Valerio, born in Popoli (PE) in 1991 and active between Sulmona and Bologna, earned his First -Level Academic Diploma in Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti de L’Aquila in 2018, where he also worked as a tutor in the painting lab. In 2022, he graduated with honors from the Second-Level Academic Diploma in Painting – Visual Arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, enriching his education with an Erasmus internship at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark.
His practice stems from a pictorial investigation into the tension between matter and subject, seeking to bring forth images “ex nihilo” from formless supports. Notable solo exhibitions include OpacoSpettroOpaco (Studio la Linea Verticale, Bologna, 2022) and ViaSenzaVia (Studio la Linea Verticale, Bologna, 2024). He has taken part in prominent group shows such as Focus on PAINTING (YAG/Garage, 2023) and the Biennale de la jeune création Mulhouse (2023).
His work—recognized with awards including YAG/Garage ItaliaMarche and Arcipelago —explores the genesis of images through the interplay of matter and light. He currently lives in Bologna, continuing both his painting practice and teaching activities within t he contemporary art scene.
