After completing their studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Irene De Sanctis (art name Eirene), born in Subiaco on 16/09/1998, and Victor Albano (art name Brigdorius), born in Gaeta on 27/04/1993, founded the Kronomorfa Collective. They began their journey by organizing two exhibitions for the Viterbo Biennale (where they participated with a two-person show) and curating several exhibition events for RAW – Rome Art Week, ABARoma, and Apai Arte, the most recent of which took place at Spazio Thetis in Venice.
Based in the metropolitan complex of CityLab 971, the Kronomorfa Collective works on regenerating a space to transform it into an artist-run space as well as a multifunctional multimedia and experimental venue, alongside other young artists. Their shared research focuses on the expressive possibilities of mirrors, based on the idea that mirrors are invisible. For this reason, a representational intermediary, such as a frame, is needed to act as a “semioforo” for the mirror element, which—if inserted without mediation—naturally distracts the viewer, who ends up looking not at the mirror itself but at what it reflects.
