Esra Oskay

Esra Oskay (born in 1982 in Başkale, based in Ankara) is a visual artist and researcher, trained at Bilkent and Sabancı University (2005–07), with a PhD from the Edinburgh College of Art (2014).
She teaches at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University and takes part in international programs such as the BAK Cell Fellowship in Utrecht/Istanbul. Her work investigates the “politics of emotions,” the materiality of power, and the dynamics of visibility in everyday life. Her exhibitions include Project: Ankara (Elgiz Museum, 2022) and the project Yerle Bir (Bilsart, 2024). She also participated in the 8th Çanakkale Biennial (2022). In addition, she is co editor of the independent magazine Çapak and was awarded the border_less book fund (2020) for research on official documents. Her approach combines art, research, and cultural activism, offering a critical perspective on public space and representation.
