Maria Ignacia Walker, born in Santiago, Chile, in 1984, earned a degree in Art Direction from Universidad del Desarrollo in 2007. In 2015, she completed an MFA in Jewellery and Body Ornaments at Alchimia Jewellery School in Florence, supported by a Fondart grant from the Chilean Ministry of Culture. In 2018, she was invited to a residency at Khio – Oslo National Academy of Art, working in the metal department. Based in Florence, she has given lectures and workshops across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and teaches at the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute. Her work focuses on organic materials linked to the body —such as skin, hair, and resin—creating scapular-like objects that explore memory, identity, and temporality.
