Maria Tirotta was born in Pompei in 1987. She graduated in Printmaking from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples in 2013. Since 2009 she has served as a teaching assistant, later becoming a Printmaking Laboratory Technician, and in 2019 she was appointed lecturer in direct intaglio techniques. Since 2016 she has been teaching in art high schools. As an engraver, she has won, among other honors, the National Arts Award in Bari.
