Paola Gusmano (Catania, 1997) is a visual artist who holds degrees in European, American and Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of Catania and in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Painting and Contemporary Languages at the same institution.
She is the President of the Erosioni Cultural Association, which develops projects in contemporary theatre and the visual arts, and co-founder of Compagnia Lucipicuraru, a theatre company based in Catania.
Working across theatre and performance, her artistic research explores the instinctive and imaginative dimensions of communication, seeking to create forms of dialogue capable of transcending cultural boundaries and differences in origin. Through the body, play, and imagination, her practice engages with the manifestations of the unconscious, investigating the images and symbols that emerge in dreams and the most elusive areas of consciousness.
Her experience in social theatre informs a practice committed to dismantling physical and social barriers, restoring communication to a more direct, embodied, and emotionally responsive dimension.
In 2026, she participated in the group exhibition Ctonio, organised in collaboration with SARP Gallery, a Sicilian artist residency centre. In 2025, she exhibited in Ars memoriae, presented at the Virtual Museum of Milo (Catania) and Palazzo Recupero-Cutore in Aci Bonaccorsi (Catania).
