An Exhibition Exploring What It Means to Be Human Today

YAG/garage presents Terrestre, an exhibition curated by Gioia Di Girolamo that invites viewers to reflect on the human condition and our relationship with the planet. Through the works of five artists — Elena Cilli, Lorena Florio, Romeo Roxman Gatt, Alice Pilusi, and Chris Rocchegiani — the exhibition weaves together themes of identity, sustainability, and global transformation.

The title Terrestre evokes the concept of “being-there,” as defined by Martin Heidegger: living consciously, in constant dialogue with the environment and with the complexity of human identity.

The Artists and Their Themes
  • Lorena Florio explores memory and metamorphosis, investigating how power and control shape human identity.

  • Chris Rocchegiani celebrates identity as an evolving process, engaging in a dialogue with the fluidity of becoming.

  • Romeo Roxman Gatt addresses sexuality, consumption, and technology, critiquing the fetishization of automotive culture.

  • Elena Cilli evokes a deep connection with nature through installations that speak to respect for ecosystems.

  • Alice Pilusi explores the subconscious and dreamlike worlds, revealing the tensions of human identity with a touch of unease.

A Path of Reflection

Terrestre invites the public to question what it means to be “earthbound beings” today, highlighting our responsibilities toward the planet and the complexities of identity in a world in constant transformation. A journey through personal and collective dimensions, where art becomes a bridge between present and future.
