Giuseppe Colangelo

Giuseppe Colangelo (Liestal, Switzerland, 1968) is a sculptor and art teacher active in Abruzzo. He trained at the Istituto d’Arte di Vasto (graduated in 1988) and at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, majoring in sculpture (1992), before starting his teaching career in Art History and Plastic Arts at art high schools in Italy and Switzerland. Since 1998, he has taught Sculpture in Abruzzo’s art schools, alongside an intense personal artistic practice spanning sculpture, painting, graphics, cinema, and photography. He has developed art workshop projects with a social purpose (involving young people and people with disabilities) and participated in international sculpture symposia. His sculptural research, often in stone and metal, has earned him awards such as the Trofeo Medusa Aurea in Rome. In 2023, Colangelo was among the artists invited to the exhibition Impuro – Sostare nell’insoluto at YAG/Garage, bringing his vision of material and concep tual “contamination.” His works are featured in public collections, and his career is also documented on his personal website, reflecting a path that merges artistic practice, education, and multidisciplinary experimentation.
