Jonathan Herrera Soto is an American visual artist and printmaker, born in Chicago in 1994 and raised amid his Mexican family’s immigration experiences. He earned a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2017 and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Yale School of Art. His work explores collective memory, state violence, and trauma through installations and works on paper, employing materials such as clay, motor oil, and graphite powder. He has participated in numerous artist residenci es, including Yaddo, MASS MoCA, and the Santa Fe Art Institute. His solo exhibitions include In Between / Underneath at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Twice the Legal Minute at the University of Hartford. He currently teaches Printmaking in the BFA program at New York University.
