Maria Cammarota (1993, Naples) graduated in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples with a thesis on art and memory, the power of emptiness, and the invisibility of “difficult” memories. In February 2020, she created an installation in a school in Secondigliano dedicated to Gianluca Cimminiello (an innocent victim of the Camorra), inaugurated in the presence of Don Ciotti and former mayor Luigi de Magistris.
In March 2022, she presented 1074 in the cloister of Santa Chiara in Naples, a project dedicated to the innocent victims of the mafia. Her artistic research investigates the evocative power of emptiness and education on legality, collaborating with artists such as Bianco -Valente. One of her works is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caserta.
She has participated in the Giardini d’Arte di Via Caravaggio program and in YAG/Garage Italia. Active in the dialogue between art and collective memory, she teaches and leads educational programs on legality in schools.
